Program Change and update: Béjart Ballet Lausanne 2024 Japan Tour (September - October 2024)

After further discussions between Japan Performing Arts Foundation and the Béjart Ballet Lausanne, there have been a change and an update in the programs of the Béjart Ballet Lausanne's Japan tour. Ballet for Life choreographed by Maurice Béjart to the music of the British band Queen and Mozart will now be presented on 21, 22 and 23 September at Tokyo Bunka Kaikan replacing Wien, Wien, nur du Allein. We apologize to our valued audiences who have been anticipating the originally scheduled program but appreciate everyone's kind understanding. At the same time, we hope you will enjoy the evergreen masterpiece, Ballet for Life. The ballet will also be performed at Hyogo Performing Arts Center (Nishinomiya, Hyogo) on 2 October and Sapporo Cultural Arts Theater hitaru (Sapporo, Hokkaido) on 6 October.

We are delighted to announce the mixed program with four beautiful works to be performed at Tokyo Bunka Kaikan: Alors on danse... !, Adage pour deux, Concerto en ré, and Boléro.

Stellar duo's Japan debut with 7 love stories

One of today's most captivating artists, soprano Sondra Radvanovsky, and one of the fastest rising stars of his generation, tenor Brian Jagde will present a duo concert for the first time in Japan on Saturday 6 July 2024 at Tokyo Bunka Kaikan. They will be joined by conductor Robert Tuohy. A concert with operatic arias from 7 beautiful love stories by Verdi, Dvořák, Cilea, Puccini and Giordano is not to be missed.

A Metropolitan Opera regular for more than 25 years, Sondra Radvanovsky has literally become "Queen of the Met" since her incredible performance of "The Three Queen" of the Donizetti Tudor Queens operas in 2016. She is widely regarded as a leading interpreter of bel canto, verismo and works by Giuseppe Verdi. Brian Jagde made his principal role debut at The Metropolitan Opera in 2021, singing Cavaradossi, opposite Radvanovsky in Tosca "In Jagde she (Radvanovsky) had a tenor who could match her soaring power... his enormous, vibrant voice was capped by exciting top notes." (New York Times). He regularly performs in the world's top venues, singing opera's most beloved heroic and romantic tenor roles.
