We are delighted to announce that the 16^th World Ballet Festival will be held from Friday 13 until Sunday 22 August 2021, in Tokyo.

When the World Ballet Festival was first introduced in 1976 under the leadership of the late Tadatsugu Sasaki, Founder of Japan Performing Arts Foundation, it was very rare for the star dancers of different companies or countries to share a stage. Its first edition caused an international sensation by bringing together three legends, Margot Fonteyn from the UK, Maya Plisetskaya from the Soviet Union and Alicia Alonso from Cuba.

Since then, held triennially in Japan, it has become one of the most prestigious and largest international ballet festivals. This summer, leading dancers from around the world will gather again to perform ballet pieces from classic to contemporary.

Details of the tickets, more artists and programs will be announced as soon as they are confirmed.

* Please note that we are to present the performances with the utmost caution in line with national and regional guidelines for novel coronavirus infection prevention measures, and that the performance dates and details are subject to change depending on circumstances. We will be posting on our website a list of novel coronavirus precautions upon attending the performance. Audience members are kindly asked to read it before attending the performance.

* Casting as of 18 February 2021 is subject to change. Changes in the cast do not entitle holders to return or exchange tickets.

* Children under 6 years old are not admitted to the auditorium.

It is with great regret that we announce English National Ballet Japan tour scheduled in June / July 2021 has been cancelled because of unpredictability of restrictions due to the current COVID-19 situation worldwide.

Japan Performing Arts Foundation and English National Ballet have made our best efforts to realize the Japan tour, but unfortunately, we have had to make the decision to cancel it with a heavy heart. We apologise to our valued audiences who have been anticipating the performances but appreciate everyone's kind understanding for the unavoidable situation and your continued support. With English National Ballet, we will be discussing the possibility of rescheduling the tour.

Subscribers to the 31^st NBS Ballet Premium Series will receive a letter with ticket details. We would appreciate your patience as it might take some time for you to receive it.
